Gaming Concepts Company Scoops 2008 Enterprise Award Title

Press Release - Friday 22 February 2008

A Dublin-based computer gaming concepts company last night beat off stiff competition to win the Docklands Innovation Park Enterprise Awards 2008 and Euro10,000 for having the best new investment proposal. Andrew Deegan (22) and Brian Quigley (28) from Breakout Gaming Concepts had 15 minutes to present their business plans to the panel of judges comprising Owen Murphy from ACT Venture Capital; Cyril Maguire, from Trintech; author and former American VC, Diane Mulcahy and Roger Hatfield, Director, the Bolton Trust.

Breakout Gaming Concepts designs, develops and produces innovative and exciting computer games and peripheral devices (game controllers) for the computer games industry. The judges remarked how Breaking Gaming Concepts’ patented gaming controller technology presented massive global business opportunities for the company through licensing and partnership agreements with specific game publishers, game developers and console vendors.

The other finalists, Niall Harbison from iFoods.tv and David Carpenter from Q-Validus, were each awarded Euro1,500. Now in its sixth year, the Docklands Innovation Park Enterprise Awards programme is the initiative of the Bolton Trust and DIT Hothouse. Previous winners include: Openplain (2007); Ripple Software Ltd (2006); Glantreo Ltd (2005); Sigmoid Technologies Ltd (2004) and Allergy Standards Ltd (2003). This year awards were presented by Cyprian Brady TD.
