Gaming Concepts Company Scoops 2008 Enterprise Award Title

A Dublin-based computer gaming concepts company last night beat off stiff competition to win the Docklands Innovation Park Enterprise Awards 2008 and Euro10,000 for having the best new investment proposal. Andrew Deegan (22) and Brian Quigley (28) from Breakout Gaming Concepts had 15 minutes to present their business plans to the panel of judges comprising Owen Murphy from ACT Venture Capital; Cyril Maguire, from Trintech; author and former American VC, Diane Mulcahy and Roger Hatfield, Director, the Bolton Trust.

Press Release - Companies Set to Go Head to Head for 2008 Enterprise Awards

Three companies will next week fight it out for first prize at the Docklands Innovation Park Enterprise Awards 2008 where the overall winner will receive €10,000 and runners up will get €1,500 each. Andrew Deegan from Breakout Gaming Concepts, Niall Harbison from iFoods.tv and David Carpenter from Q-Validus will each have 15 minutes to present their business plans to the panel of judges before being grilled on their proposals.

Bolton Trust-DIT-Steorn Student Enterprise Competition

The final of this year's Bolton Trust-DIT-Steorn Student Enterprise Competition took place in DIT Aungier Street at the end of March. In a tightly-contested final, the winners were the RISSA team - five students in their third year of the BSc (Hons) in Product Design. Richard Gore, Alex McFadden, Valentine Nicosia, Stephen Walker and Siobhan O'Keeffe won the top prize of €5000 for their presentation of their product - "a new type of visor with a heating element demister".
